Marta Serrano Coll ' Universitat Rovira i Virgili - Academia.edu
Professora agregada Serra Hunter
Marta Serrano is a Serra Húnter Fellow at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona (Spain) and a founding member of Templa.
Her research into royal iconography in the Crown of Aragon from the 11th to 16th centuries has resulted in three books on the subject. This central axis of her research is the display of power through art and the use of art as a showcase for the institution of the monarchy and it is enriched with forays into other areas such as sacred Romanesque sculpture and hagiographical studies.
Among other interests, her research has focused on the Cathedral of Tarragona and has led to the publication (as co-author) of a book concerning the sculpture found in its cloister and more than 10 articles in relation to its visual settings, patrons, audiences and the use of the art as a tool of memory.
